’25 Futures Prep Team

We are heading into our 2nd year of our newest  development program in the Oakland Bulldogs Organization, the Futures Prep Team.  Last year’s initial season went great and we are ready to build on it for this season.  The Futures Prep team is designed for 6 and 7 year olds who are interested in playing on our 8u team in the years to come.  The team will meet once a week from January through March at Origin Athletics and focus on developing the skills needed to be successful at baseball.  The program will be run by the Oakland Futures and Oakland Bulldogs coaches.
Developmental objectives are listed below:
  • Increase confidence in catching
  • Create proper throwing technique for accuracy and velocity
  • Progress through fielding technique and learn terminology
  • Agility, Mobility, and Intro Strength drills
  • Baserunning 101 and introduction to rules
  • Foundations of hitting
  • Fundamentals of the pitching delivery
Just as it is with our older teams, the pace of practice will be fast to help keep the kids stay engaged.  We will utilize competitive games and contests to help reinforce the learning.
At the conclusion of the program in March we will do an evaluation of each of the players and advise the best path going forward.  The Prep program does not guarantee a spot on the ’25/’26 8u team.  The hope is that it will give each athlete a good understanding of what would be expected from our organization and help develop the skill set needed to compete in the future.
The Futures Prep program is open by invite and referral only.  If this info has been sent to you we have seen you in one of our programs in the past, or have a family tie to the Futures/Bulldogs.  If you want to send this information to someone who might be a good fit, please do.  You may also reach out to us with questions at any point.
